NY Empire FC has defied expectations by making the playoffs in their debut UPSL Northeast Premier Division season. Coming in as underdogs, the Empire finished with a strong 4-3-3 record, securing a top-four position in the division and a spot in the playoffs. Their journey has been marked by standout performances and a passionate fan base, making an immediate impact on both the league and the local community.
The Empire’s success this season has been due in large part to the efforts of goalkeeper Justin Silva, who posted an impressive four shutouts. Silva’s skill and consistency in goal provided a strong foundation for the team throughout the season. Forward Lenny Lopez led the offensive charge with nine goals in just eight appearances, showcasing his knack for finding the back of the net. Nico Reinoso added firepower with six goals, while Dylan Meadows contributed four crucial goals to the team’s tally.
Head Coach Max Ferro expressed pride in his team’s achievements. “It’s been an incredible season so far, but the work is far from over,” Ferro remarked. “We’re not just here to make an appearance in the playoffs; we’re here to make a deep run and compete for the national championship.”
The fan base has been an integral part of NY Empire FC’s success. With games drawing between 750 to 1,000 fans, the support from the community has been tremendous. NY Empire FC has also partnered with local soccer clubs, hosting club appreciation nights and fundraisers, further solidifying its roots in the community.
As the team heads into the playoffs, they will face NJ Alliance FC, the top-seeded team in the UPSL Northeast Conference’s South Division. The first-round match is set for next Saturday evening in Clifton, NJ. NY Empire FC has been training hard in preparation, and the team is confident and ready to take on the challenge.
