NY Empire FC is heading to the FINALS of the UPSL American Regional Cup after a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Lone Stars in Sunday’s semifinal showdown. The hard-fought match, held at the Susa Orlin & Cohen Sports Complex, sets up a must-see championship clash this Sunday at 3:00 PM against the Capital City Islanders — and it’s a HOME GAME!
In a match that tested grit, skill, and heart, NYEFC rose to the occasion. Steven Rojas broke the deadlock with a crucial strike in the 45th minute, capitalizing on a perfect assist from Moses Bakabulindi to give the Empire a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Just 10 minutes into the second half, the tables turned — and the roof nearly came off. Bakabulindi, already with an assist to his name, doubled the lead with a rocket into the back of the net in the 55th minute, sending Empire fans into a frenzy.

Philadelphia wouldn't go down without a fight. A late goal in the 90th minute cut the lead in half, but NYEFC’s backline stood tall, locking in the win with composure and tenacity.
Defensive dominance was the theme of the day, with Trevor Henderson, Captain George Yusuff, and Malcom Swett putting in a full 90-minute shift to shut down Philly’s attack. Behind them, it was a dream debut for Kenneth Cordova, former Peruvian professional and now the Empire’s new shot-stopper, who made key saves to preserve the lead and showed why he’s a force to be reckoned with.

Also turning heads was Aris Radillo, the 19-year-old Long Island native and standout from St. Joseph's University, whose energy and fearless play injected life into the midfield all game long.
Now, only one match stands between NY Empire FC and glory. The UPSL American Regional Cup Final is this Sunday at 3:00 PM, once again at the Susa Orlin & Cohen Sports Complex. This is your team. This is your moment. Let’s pack the stands and bring the energy!
Be there. Be loud. Be Empire. 🏆
