In a highly anticipated battle between the top two teams in the league, NY Empire FC and NY Braveheart SC played to a thrilling 2-2 draw on Saturday evening, leaving fans energized and both squads still neck-and-neck in the standings.

NY Empire FC, entering the match with a 4-0-1 record, faced an undefeated Braveheart side (5-0) in what felt like a playoff preview. The Empire struck first in the 24th minute when Mason Chetti found the back of the net off a well-placed assist from Cooper Flax, making his debut after returning from an All-American season at Wake Forest University.

The lead didn’t last long. Braveheart SC equalized just before halftime with a well-worked goal that shifted momentum their way heading into the break.
The second half kicked off with intensity, and Braveheart capitalized in the 60th minute to take a 2-1 lead. But the Empire responded quickly. Just nine minutes later, substitute Emgi Gousse delivered a crucial equalizer, pouncing on a loose ball in the box to level the score at 2-2.

Empire goalkeeper Justin Silva, returning to action, proved why his presence is vital. Silva made a series of remarkable saves down the stretch, keeping the game level despite Braveheart’s late push for a winner.

The match also marked the debut of Steven Siso, a Stony Brook alum, who brought composure and energy to the midfield in his first appearance.
After the game, NY Empire head coach Max Ferro praised his team's effort but made it clear he expects more moving forward:“The team worked hard, but we need more to take down the top teams,” said Ferro. “In my mind, we are the best team. Now it’s about proving that every time we step on the field.”

With the draw, NY Empire FC remains unbeaten at 4-0-2, while Braveheart moves to 5-0-1. The race at the top of the table is tighter than ever.
NY Empire FC will look to make a statement in their next matchup, a Saturday evening road game against Brooklyn FC.
