NY Empire FC is proud to have Anthony Herbert, a defender for New Mexico United and a Trinidad and Tobago international, as a coach for our Sunday Series. Herbert has already led the first two sessions, providing invaluable training and mentorship to our young players, and we are thrilled to announce that he will be coaching the next three sessions as well.
Herbert’s impressive soccer journey has taken him from the fields of Brooklyn to the professional ranks and the international stage. After developing his skills in New York for the Red Bull Academy he went on to play at St Johns University. Anthony began his professional career with FC Haka in Finland. In 2023, he joined New Mexico United who compete in the USL Championship Division. Anthony has established himself as a dominant defensive presence in one of the most competitive leagues in the U.S.
In 2022, Herbert reached a major milestone when he debuted for the Trinidad and Tobago national team, showcasing his talent on the international stage. Representing his country has only enhanced his perspective on the game, and he now brings that knowledge and experience back to New York to inspire the next generation.
During the first two Sunday Series sessions, Herbert focused on defensive skills, tactical awareness, and building confidence under pressure. His hands-on approach, combined with his ability to relate to young players, has created a unique learning environment. Participants have not only improved technically but also gained insights into the mentality required to succeed at the highest levels of the game.
“It’s been an amazing experience coaching the Sunday Series,” said Herbert. “The players are eager to learn and have a real passion for the game. I’m excited to continue working with them in the upcoming sessions and help them develop further.”
Herbert’s sessions also include personal stories about his journey from Brooklyn to playing professionally and representing Trinidad and Tobago. These moments have resonated with players and parents alike, offering inspiration and a glimpse of what hard work and dedication can achieve.
“We’re honored to have Anthony as part of our Sunday Series,” said NY Empire FC Head Coach Max Ferro. “His professionalism and passion for the game are evident in everything he does. The players have already learned so much from him, and we can’t wait to see the impact he will have in the next three sessions.”
Anthony Herbert will continue to lead the Sunday Series, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with the NY Empire FC community. To sign up for our final three sessions visit
