NY Empire FC is proud to announce the signing of experienced center back Adil Gowani, adding a proven professional defender with international experience to the Empire back line ahead of the upcoming season

.

Born in the United States and carrying Mexican and Pakistani heritage, Gowani brings a diverse football background and a wealth of experience across multiple professional environments in North America and abroad. Known for his composure on the ball, physical presence, and leadership in defense, Gowani strengthens an already competitive Empire squad as the club prepares for the upcoming UPSL campaign.

Gowani began his professional career in Mexico in 2018, making his debut with Sporting Canamy. Shortly after, he continued his development with Tuxtla FC, gaining valuable experience under the Liga MX system. Gowani later began building his professional résumé in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) when he joined Atlanta SC in the fall of 2019. Shortly after, he continued in the same league with Michigan Stars, gaining further experience competing in the United States’ independent professional soccer landscape.

In 2020, Gowani took his career to Mexico, signing with Leones Dorados in the Liga de Balompié Mexicano, a professional league formed as an alternative top division competition in Mexico. His time there exposed him to a different style of play and a highly competitive environment, further shaping his development as a defender.

His career continued to expand internationally when he participated in preseason with Honduran first division side C.D. Victoria in 2022, showcasing his ability at the highest levels of Central American football. Later that year, Gowani returned to Mexico to play for Inter de Querétaro in Serie A de México, continuing to build his reputation as a dependable and experienced center back.

Most recently, Gowani returned to the United States, competing with Club de Lyon before spending time with local rivals NY Renegades, who went on to win the UPSL National Championship. His experience in high-level competition against top UPSL opposition makes him a valuable addition to the Empire squad.

In addition to his 11-a-side career, Gowani has also represented the United States in Nations League Sevens, competing with the U.S. Soccer 7s National Team in international small-sided competition. Representing the country on the international stage further highlights his technical ability, athleticism, and adaptability in high-tempo environments.

Now joining NY Empire FC, Gowani brings professionalism, experience, and leadership to the squad. His background across multiple leagues and countries adds valuable perspective and depth to the Empire defense.

Head Coach Max Ferro welcomed the addition:

“Adil is a player who has experienced the professional game in multiple environments. He’s composed, strong defensively, and understands what it takes to compete at a high level. He brings leadership and experience that will raise the standard within the group.”

As NY Empire FC continues to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level, the addition of Gowani represents another important step in strengthening the team’s foundation.

Welcome to the Empire, Adil.
