Even in the offseason, NY Empire FC is finding ways to stay sharp — and win. The club put together a talented squad for a local 6v6 small-sided tournament featuring a $3,000 cash prize and a field loaded with professional talent. By the end of the day, Empire not only rose to the challenge but lifted the trophy.

Stacked Competition, Strong Performances
The tournament drew numerous pro and semi-pro players, making each match highly competitive. Empire navigated three group-stage games before charging through the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final to secure the championship.
Representing the club wereTrevor Henderson, Stephen Hollis, Mason Chetti, Stalyn Acosta, Sebastian Monroy, Nico Reinoso, Tim de Meij, and Justin Silva, along with special guest Anthony Herbert, a defender currently competing with the Las Vegas Lights in the USL Championship. Herbert added additional quality and experience to an already energetic group.

Small-Sided, Big Impact
Head coach Max Ferro emphasized how valuable these experiences are for the club during the offseason.
“Keeping the guys playing together is important. Small-sided means more touches, more decisions, and more chances for players to express themselves,” Ferro said. “It’s fun, but it also keeps us sharp.”
The format rewarded technical quality, quick combination play, and creativity — all areas in which Empire excelled throughout the day.
A Fun Offseason Moment With Real Benefits
While the event offered serious competition and a substantial prize, the mood around the team was loose, confident, and full of camaraderie. The players enjoyed competing against high-level opposition in a pressure-free environment, and the chemistry they built showed on the field.
The tournament win adds a bright chapter to NY Empire FC’s offseason, giving the squad both bragging rights and valuable momentum heading into their next cycle of training and competition.
